In an age where laptops, cellphones and blackberries are a part of everyday life, more and more people are struggling with work or sport related injuries.

These repetitive strain disorders can cause intense pain without any obvious trauma. Most people struggle with headaches, neck and shoulder pain or stiffness. There are also many people with low back, hip, knee, or groin strains. The majority of these can be directly related to poor ergonomics at the work environment and, therefore, repeated strains.

Since the work environment is becoming exceedingly sedentary, people are struggling to adequately prepare for their sporting activities over the weekends. This fact results in many serious sports people developing spontaneous injuries. Poor body mechanics and       mal-alignment are often contributing factors.

At  Puveshni Ramjuthan Physiotherapy, we look at the body in its entirety. We focus on symmetry, equilibrium, and sound biomechanics. We always strive to treat the cause and not the symptom.

The treatments involve a lot of hand work with massage, joint mobilization, trigger point release, muscle and nerve stretches.

We also offer dry needling and acupuncture so as to compliment and complete the treatment.

Since the focus is holistic healing, we often recommend biokinetics to complete the rehabilitation process. This is necessary to prevent further injury, and, to inhibit further wear and tear of joints (central and peripheral).

Our location at the Exercise and Nutrition Centre is, therefore, ideal. The patient can be co-managed with both the physiotherapist and biokineticist taking care of the patient.
